Youth Marathon Organized in Kalkaji to Promote Environmental Awareness Among Children and Eliminate Single-Use Plastic

With the objective of increasing environmental awareness among children and discouraging the use of single-use plastic, a Youth Marathon was organized in Kalkaji on 25 February 2026 as part of the Plastic Free India initiative by Mata Chakeri Devi Foundation.

Mata Chakeri Devi Foundation is committed to building a cleaner, greener and more sustainable future through its Plastic Free India initiative. This initiative focuses on spreading awareness about environmental protection, especially among children and youth, and encouraging communities to eliminate the use of single-use plastic in their daily lives.

As part of this effort, awareness activities were conducted across the Kalkaji area, including a public awareness drive from Nehru Enclave Metro Station (Gate No. 5) to Central Park, Krishna Market. The initiative witnessed enthusiastic participation from college students, young volunteers, and responsible citizens who came together to promote a plastic-free lifestyle.

The primary objective of this initiative is to educate the younger generation about the harmful impact of plastic pollution on our environment. By encouraging sustainable habits and eco-friendly alternatives, the Foundation aims to nurture environmentally conscious citizens who can lead the change.

Participants were recognized with certificates of appreciation as a gesture of encouragement and motivation. Their enthusiasm reflects the growing awareness and responsibility among youth toward environmental conservation.

Through the Plastic Free India initiative, Mata Chakeri Devi Foundation continues to:

  • Promote awareness about the dangers of single-use plastic
  • Encourage eco-friendly and sustainable alternatives
  • Inspire community participation in environmental protection
  • Empower children and youth to become environmental ambassadors

We believe that environmental protection is a shared responsibility. Small actions taken collectively can create a powerful impact. By reducing plastic usage and adopting sustainable practices, we can protect our planet for future generations.

Let us come together to take a pledge —
Say NO to Single-Use Plastic and YES to a greener tomorrow.
