Under the CSR initiative of Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), the Mata Chakeri Devi Foundation successfully organized 10 Free Health Check-up Camps in series of 30 free health check up camp in various localities of Burari, Delhi, as part of the larger Health Mela initiative. Each of these camps reached approximately 200 to 300 beneficiaries, offering essential healthcare services to underserved communities at no cost. This effort is part of a broader commitment to organize 30 such camps, aimed at improving access to healthcare and promoting preventive health awareness among the marginalized.
The Health Mela is focused on providing accessible, affordable, and quality healthcare to the people of Burari who often lack access to regular medical services. The objectives of this initiative include spreading awareness about preventive healthcare, offering free medical check-ups and consultations, educating the community on healthy lifestyle practices, sharing information about government health schemes, and encouraging early diagnosis and timely treatment of common ailments.
The ten camps were conducted on Sundays between March and June 2025 across multiple locations, including Kaushik Enclave, Harit Vihar, Bengali Colony, Zaroda, Conductor Colony, and Buds Paradise School. All camps were held between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM, allowing wide participation from the local population. Community members benefited from free health screenings, expert medical advice, and information on various government health schemes and support systems.
Each camp featured a wide range of healthcare services. These included health screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, vision, and general physical examination, enabling early detection of common health issues. General OPD services were provided by qualified MBBS doctors for ailments such as fever, cough, cold, weakness, and digestive issues. Specialized services were also offered by optometrists and pharmacists for eye care and basic medication counseling. Nutrition counseling was provided with a focus on children, women, and elderly participants, covering dietary guidance and immunity-building tips.
The camps also served as a platform for health education, where participants learned about hygiene, disease prevention, lifestyle changes, and awareness about non-communicable diseases such as diabetes, hypertension, and breast cancer. Information regarding routine immunizations was shared, and support was extended for government vaccination programs. Additionally, diagnostic services such as blood sugar tests and haemoglobin checks were carried out, and any participant requiring further treatment was advised accordingly.
Dedicated volunteers and health workers played a vital role in the information dissemination process, helping beneficiaries understand and access various public health schemes offered by the government. The successful execution of the first 10 camps marks a significant milestone in the journey toward improved community health under IGL’s CSR initiative.
